..for a better online life!

trying to stay offline ;-)

Filed under: Weblogs — cutieissa24 at 2:15 pm on Thursday, June 25, 2009

I’ve been gone for around 1 week coz of a self-imposed “stay offline” lifestyle change. The reason being is that I don’t wanna go into internet withdrawal syndrome when I’ll finally go into my medical residency (a 3-4 years specialty training for doctors) later this year. Plus our Linksys router broke so we don’t have wifi anymore — sucks big time! And yes, I know I’m online now but it doesn’t mean I failed in my quest coz I didn’t imposed a 100% absolutely NO internet rule. Going online is okay for as long as it is for work. I “gave up” Twitter, my non-writing moneymaking schemes, some Facebook games, all FB quizzes, etc. And what did I learn from this exercise? I can live without internet purposely!! :p

tech talk -_-

It’s been more than 2 months since the brand-new Seagate Barracuda hard drive of our PC died and can’t be detected anymore. My brother don’t want to return it despite the warranty coz it contained all our files. My saved stuff there goes back to high school! Imagine losing all that data! *clutches heart in pain* Obviously we need a reliable Business Computer Repair service to fix the hard drive. An online friend told me that I should check out FastTeks.com — they offer IT solutions to meet your business needs at affordable rates. They have certified technicians that provide fast, affordable business computer service and technical computer help. And for non-business peeps like me, they also offer residential services. I’m currently checking their Data Backup and Recovery service and crossing my fingers they can fix our hard drive and/or recover our data there.

dreaming of Disney World

Filed under: Online Finds!, Travel — cutieissa24 at 5:50 am on Thursday, June 25, 2009

Last night, I dreamt of Disneyland. Don’t know why it came out in my subconscious, probably because I’m in vacation mode right now. Actually I’m in vacation mode since mid-2007. Hehe! Anyway, there are so many Disney theme parks around the world already. In Asia, they have one in Japan and another in Hongkong. In the US, there’s one in California. But the “Disneyland” I wanna go to is the one in super sunny Orlando, Florida! And FYI, the place isn’t even called Disneyland but Walt Disney World Resort or Disney WORLD for short =) And if you must know, there are 5 other Non-Disney theme parks in Orlando.

My favorite theme park in Disney World (there are 4) is the Animal Kingdom Park. I super duper looove animals and this park is way better than any city zoo! It is actually home to more than 1,700 animals from 250 species and sprawled across 500 acres of lush landscape — the largest animal-themed park in the world! Awesome huh? =) Animal Kingdom Park is divided into 7 areas, namely: Oasis, Discovery Island® area, Camp Minnie-Mickey, Africa, Rafiki’s Planet Watch® area, Asia and Dinoland, U.S.A.® area. Can you guess what’s my favorite area? AFRICA, of course! Can you imagine going near a lion and having your picture taken with it? It’s all possible here!

Kilimanjaro Safaris

And just for Halloween, Disney World will be having Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party plus a parade of Disney villains and a new fireworks show with beautiful Halloween colors at the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom. For the brave ones, there’s Universal Studios Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights and Howl-O-Scream returns with their new “House of Vayne” theme. Get ready to be scared!!! =) Anyway if you’re hankering to go to this magical place like me, go to OrlandoFunTickets.com for the best deals that will get you into all of the Disney theme parks. They’ve got the cheapest Disney World Tickets so don’t miss out on it!

win as much as $4000 in cold cash!! =)

Filed under: Music, Online Finds! — cutieissa24 at 9:15 am on Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Yup, you read it right — FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS in cold hard cash!! =) And all you have to do is right about the contest in your blog (like what I’m doing right now) and follow the other steps listed in John Chow’s contest post HERE. No, Mr. JC is not the one giving away the $4000 — the contest is actually sponsored by OnlineRadioStations.com which is owned by Richard Lau, another dot com mogul. So what are you waiting for? Go join the contest! The lucky winner will be drawn this Saturday!

Like most of you, I listen to music online (I don’t have iPod, iTouch or iphone accessories) — either via direct streaming or online radios. I’ve actually joined many such sites but only in OnlineRadioStations.com did I feel “at home” =) They have over over 5000 radio stations of live streaming music, talk, news, sports & weather, and specialty stations like old time radio and Christmas music. As you might have guessed, my favorite station are the news stations. Hehe! And I’m actually almost always tuned in to the Philippines’ DZRH news radio station that’s why I feel at home ^_^

I’m gonna have a niece! =)

And it’s all very exciting for my family! =) My parents have been hankering for a grandchild ever since me and my 2 younger brothers came of age. Then I got married which made them very excited. Unfortunately, I wasn’t into having children, not in the near future anyway. And just when my parents thought there’s no hope, my “big” brother announced last December he’s having a kid! I think it was the best Christmas present my parents received, hehe!

A few days ago, my future sister-in-law told me they’re having a girl and she’s gonna be named Euna. Sooo cute huh?? =) Now that everything’s official, I’m looking for a suitable gift for baby Euna. I’m inclined towards buying pink Baby Beddings and some smart toys. And over at the BabyBeddingPalace.com, I found the cutest pink bedding set ever! Have a look at their PINK FLORAL QUILT NURSERY BABY CRIB BEDDING (12PC SET):

Pretty noh? =) If you have a boy, they have plenty of other Baby Bedding Sets for you to choose from. So what are you waiting for? Go visit their site!

June 20 is World Refugee Day

Filed under: Current Affairs — cutieissa24 at 2:57 pm on Thursday, June 18, 2009

I just saw a public service ad starring the very beautiful Angelina Jolie announcing that it’s UN World Refugee Day this June 20. Here’s what I found about this event on their official site:

For years, many countries and regions have been holding their own Refugee Days and even Weeks. One of the most widespread is Africa Refugee Day, which is celebrated on 20 June in several countries.

As an expression of solidarity with Africa, which hosts the most refugees, and which traditionally has shown them great generosity, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 55/76 on 4 December 2000. In this resolution, the General Assembly noted that 2001 marked the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, and that the Organization of African Unity (OAU) had agreed to have International Refugee Day coincide with Africa Refugee Day on 20 June. The Assembly therefore decided that, from 2001, 20 June would be celebrated as World Refugee Day.

I want to fish!

And that’s no thanks to The Sims 2: Seasons, hehe! In the said game, weather is the new major feature and you now have the four different seasons. Along with it, your sims are now able to farm, fish and harvest fruits. Just awesome! =) Of course, The Sims 3 (the newest game of the series) is more than awesome but it has no seasons yet. Anyway, I got so addicted to being a farmer / fisherman in my game that I wanted to go fishing in real life! LOL! Of course I know nothing about fishing for real so I’m thankful there’s a FREE fishing chatroom at FishingChat.org — and yes, members here are into fishing so I’m sure I’ll learn right fishing tips and stuff from them =) Now, I just have to find a fishing place so I can start my new hobby!

consolidate your debts!

Filed under: Money Matters, Online Finds! — cutieissa24 at 7:35 am on Wednesday, June 17, 2009

If you are deep in debt right now or has a large loan, you might want to use debt consolidation in paying your bills. For those not in the know, this involves taking out one large loan to pay a number of smaller, usually high interest, loans. Debt consolidation allows a debtor to put all debt into one loan, usually with a smaller monthly payment than he/she had with all of the separate loans/debts. Most of the time, the interest rate on the new loan is less than the average interest rate of the old loans/debts. If you noticed, consolidating your debts would allow you to pay a LESSER amount of money in the long run. Plus, there is the convenience of having to do only one payment to cover the multiple former debts. Real nice huh? If you’re interested, read more and click the video link near the end of this post.

There are many different types of Debt Consolidation. You may borrow from a rich relative who will hopefully charge you lesser interest, you may use your home as a collateral, you may get an unsecured loan, or you can just hire a professional to do all your debt work.. Anyway, there are many bill consolidation guide in the internet so if you’re interested, just search. And to make sure that the company you chose is legit, go to DCC or DebtConsolidationConnection.com — they created a free guide on how to do a loan modification on your own and also produced a video detailing the process and what to avoid. You can watch the video HERE. So, are you up to consolidate your debts? Who knows, by consolidating your credit card, debts and loans, you will solve your financial problems, and put your life back on track. God bless! =)
