massage chair, anyone?

Filed under: House and Home — cutieissa24 at 6:49 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2009

The pros: you can have your massage anytime, right at the comforts of your own home. More than a year ago, while I was strolling in one of the malls in Manila, I stumbled on a free offer to try a massage chair. It felt sooo good sitting in a comfy chair while there were sensations of hands rapidly tapping on my back, gentle rolling alternating strokes and kneading to work out knots and ease soreness of my body! Though some would say that a robotic massage chair can never replace the human touch, I’d still go for it. After all, at this day and age, we all want instant gratification — massage anytime, anywhere! Now all I need is some really good home theater chairs =)

Moody Monday: GENEROUS

The Story: I was in the beautiful Panglao Island of Bohol, Philippines for a brief summer vacation. I was taking pictures of the amazing white sand beach and sunset left and right when this group of kids called out to me saying, “Te, kaon ta!” (In English, “Miss, let’s eat!”) Yeah, the sunburnt kids were more than eager to share their meager and oh-so fresh sea urchin dinner with me — now that’s generous! Sharing stuff when you yourself don’t have enough.. with a stranger at that! =)

dang it! here goes our savings..

Sometimes I hate browsing and surfing the Internet — coz I end up salivating over cheap bargains yet torn if it’s worth to buy. My latest dilemma? The awesome laptop deals I found over at AyosDito.ph o_O And this is what I’m salivating over right now –

An Alienware m5750 for only P22000!! Can you believe the price?? The owner bought it in Dubai last year for $1100 so you have more than 50% discount! My only question, why sell so cheap? Maybe there’s a hidden defect or something.. Oh well, I’ll just wait for the owner’s reason for selling.

who’s your fave American Idol 8 contestant?

Filed under: Music, Online Finds!, Television — cutieissa24 at 10:31 am on Monday, March 16, 2009

Mine is Anoop Desai! =) He is a 22 year-old resident of Chapel Hill, North Carolina who auditioned for FOX’s American Idol in Kansas City and made it into season eight’s top thirteen as a wildcard entry. He nearly was eliminated during the Michael Jackson week but thankfully he wasn’t. Whew! Anoop Desai loves to sing R&B (Randy Jackson calls him Noop Dawg/Dogg!) and sang with the acapella student singing group Clef Hangers in college.

Anoop Desai is currently earning his Master’s degree in folklore at UNC Chapel Hill. He also earned his undergraduate degree, a bachelor’s degree in American Studies, from UNC-CH where he wrote an honors thesis entitled “Why Barbecue Matters in the South”. Cool huh?? =) If you’re visiting North Carolina, don’t forget to drop by UNC-CH and also check out the North Carolina auto insurance policies to make sure you’re protected while traveling within the state.

The Sims and other PC games

Filed under: Games — cutieissa24 at 8:51 am on Saturday, March 14, 2009

People close to me know that I am super addicted to computer games! Whether it be online or offline =) My favorite game of all time is The Sims, a simulation game wherein you’re able to control your characters, manage their lives and build houses (always, always add a burglar alarm coz a thief will come on the very first night!). Perfect for OCs like me, hehe! I’m sure you’ve heard of this great game already. After all, it’s the best-selling PC game of all time =) I’m into the Sims Stories right now (got the Life, Pets and Castaway Stories) while waiting for for the release of The Sims 3.

My addiction to PC games started when I was in Grade 4 when we had our very first computer. We played Tetris, Prince of Persia, Family Feud, Carmen San Diego, and chess on it. We can’t play chess online then as the internet only came into my life during high school. And take note, all the games I’ve mentioned we’re still in 2D and mostly in grayscale! Talk about primitive, hehe! But my brothers and I had fun and developed our love for PC gaming. It’s just that they’re now into RPGs while I’m into simulation games =)

soccer and horse riding =)

Filed under: Online Finds!, Sports — cutieissa24 at 7:32 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2009

I enjoyed playing soccer back in college (it’s one of my PE classes) because of its physical aspect. Imagine running back and forth between the two goals separated by almost 500m of green grass (we had a smaller field). Add to that the fact you have to guard the ball and tried to score. I tell you, if there’s one thing that’d workout your whole body, it would be soccer!

Man, after each session, my sides and legs would be aching from exertion. Playing soccer was definitely, absolutely worth it! =) My dream sports, however, is playing with horses and riding on them (with saddles of course). Yeah, I wanted to be an equestrian!!! But it’s mainly because of the lovely and oh-so sexy equestrian apparel that the likes of Mikee Cojuangco and Toni Leviste are wearing. Hehe!

finally activated my Facebook! =)

I’ve had my Facebook for awhile but it lay dormant and inaccessible to people search as I pondered if it can help me with my online business. There’s so much going on in my offline and online life that adding another social network is more work than play to me. Like most Pinoys, I have Friendster, Myspace (dead) and Multiply (which was dormant until it enabled cross-posting of Blogger blog posts). I also have multiple personal blogs plus websites of employers that I update daily. Do I really have time for Facebook?? ;-) It also didn’t help that Facebook announced recently that everything you put here will be THEIR property. Thank god they backtracked after much hullabaloo from FB fanatics.
.
Around one month ago, I finally joined Twitter (check me out at http://twitter.com/cutieissa) for monetary reasons. For most part I’m an early adopter of early web technologies but since the dot com bubble bust, I have been wary of joining popular websites especially if the hype is overwhelming. Twitter was in that category but lo and behold! More than a year later it’s still around and gaining more members everyday. Facebook even tried to buy it! But Twitter said no. Anyhoo, I found Twitter incredibly informative (I’m following doctors & tech gurus). My initial reason for joining (earning $$$) has taken the backseat and I’m just savoring the Twitter experience =)
.
So what has Twitter gotta do with my finally activating my Facebook? Well, I found out that I can update my FB status with my Twitter feed! I actually don’t have to login to Facebook to tell you guys what I’m up to! I can update my Twitter (via PC or mobile phone) and it will publish to my FB. Now isn’t that kewl?? It’s almost like when I update my Blogger blogs and it will publish automatically to my Multiply blog. Neat! =) And did you know that Facebook’s new homepage that will show REAL-TIME updates is based on Twitter? When Twitter turned down FB’s offer to buy it, FB management thought “If we can’t buy them, we’ll compete with them!” And with 175 million users, Facebook might just bring Twitter down — OR NOT!

what is alopecia?

Filed under: Health Matters, Online Finds! — cutieissa24 at 12:10 pm on Monday, March 9, 2009

According to science, hair loss has both genetic and hormonal causes. Androgenetic alopecia or “male pattern hair loss” is implicated in 95% of hair loss cases in men. And the one responsible is a hormone byproduct called dihydrotestostrone or DHT. The more DHT that gets put into your body, the more your hair follicles become thinner and finer until the hair is permanently lost.

The solution? Block DHT. And that’s what hair loss treatments do. A family member of mine (I won’t say who, you might tease him of his hair loss problem, hehe) has used the brand Provillus in the past with excellent results. His hair above his neck base grew back and never fell in clumps again. Lucky for him! So if you have alopecia, don’t hesistate to consult your doctor for the best treatment.
