Google Chrome OS unveiled!!

And guess what? It has a 7-second boot time!! Is there any other OS faster than that?? This video below includes a look at Chrome’s short boot time, some of the apps Chrome OS will be able to run, and the operating system’s interface. The much-awaited OS from Google will be released early next year. Woohoo! =) Google says that if you’re a developer, has the right netbook and know-how, you can use their Chrome OS source code and have the OS run in your netbook now. Way cool! But before I’ll tinker with the codes, I’ll finish this rv breakdown article first. No telling how much time I’ll take up tinkering with the codes.. Hehe!

Smart idea, sensational results: Take the concept of a pillow, stretch it to an elongated curve, contour it to provide the right kind of support where it is needed, and make it flexible so the user can shape it as necessary. Voila! This pillow does the work of 5 and is great for back and stomach support during pregnancy. Yes, all I really want is this pillow, no more cutesy high heels or fancy Dansko clogs for lil pregnant me!

Divorce ban coming to California??

Filed under: Family Affairs, Online Finds! — cutieissa24 at 4:11 am on Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Wow, and I thought Californians are laid-back, open and liberal to anything and everything.. how wrong I was! After banning same-sex marriage, defenders of the sanctity of marriage have set out to collect 700,000 signatures to land the California Protection of Marriage Act 2010 on the ballot next year. The said act, if passed, will eliminate the right to divorce in the state of California. Sacramento resident John Marcotte, the founder of this initiative, was quoted as saying:

People who supported Prop 8 weren’t trying to take rights away from gays, they just wanted to protect traditional marriage. That’s why I’m confident that they will support this initiative, even though this time it will be their rights that are diminished. To not support it would be hypocritical.”

If this act will be passed, Californians will have to take their divorce petitions to other states, maybe in New York, New Jersey or Las Vegas. They say new jersey divorce lawyers are the best in the US, especially those coming from the Weinberger Law Group. The company has around 50 years of experience and their lawyers are experts in handling divorces, annulments, separations, pre and post nuptial agreements, child custody and support, and all other issues relating to divorce and family law.

need a tutor for Algebra?

Filed under: Brainiacs, Online Finds! — cutieissa24 at 8:21 am on Saturday, November 14, 2009

Math subjects are a serious pain for K-12 and college students. Sometimes you have to wonder if Math problems will have any bearing on our future lives, i.e. you’re gonna be a singer, will Algebra word problems in college help you succeed?? I’m sure you don’t think so :p But what you have to understand is, in order to graduate from K-12 and college, you have to pass your dreaded Math subjects. If you need Geometry, Trigonometry or Algebra help, you should find a good tutor.

Back in my school days, my parents were my tutors, usually my mom. She’s not that good in Math stuff (though she’s very good in Accounting) as my dad is coz he’s an engineer. But dad is working til night so I have to make do with my mom, LOL! Math word problems were hard on me but with constant practice, it got easier to solve and in awhile, it was easy for me to get correct Math answers. I got past Algebra 1, Geometry, Trigo, I didn’t even need Algebra 2 help anymore! Awesome feeling I tell you!

These days, tutors are a dime a dozen, whether offline or online. Most use the usual one-on-one teaching methods. If you want to experience online tutoring, try TutorVista. They offer an incredible unlimited monthly tutoring package for only $99.99 a month for all subjects - students can use our service as much as they want, whenever they need it. “Slow” students” can surely take advantage of this awesome package! Also, tutoring is available 24X7. So what are you waiting for? Try their FREE demo now!

First Trimester Recap

Filed under: Baby Stuff, Pregnancy — cutieissa24 at 11:36 am on Friday, November 13, 2009

The first trimester (0 - 14 weeks), is one of the most crucial for your baby. Within this trimester you will find the most rapid rate of growth and development taking place. By the end of the 1st trimester, your son or daughter will have grown to 3.4 inches (8.7 cm) long and weigh about 1.5 ounces (43 grams). Your infant will develop everything from limbs to vital organs. Week by week the changes are astounding! [ SOURCE ]

6 week fetusDay 1: Sperm joins with the ovum to form one cell smaller than a grain of salt. Twenty-three chromosomes from each parent join to form every detail of human development: sex, hair, eye color, height, skin tone, personality, emotional make-up, and other inherited characteristics.

Day 3-4: The fertilized egg is rapidly dividing as it travels down the fallopian tube into the uterus where for the last two weeks the lining has been preparing to receive the zygote.

Days 5-9: The zygote implants in the lining and begins to draw nourishment from the lining.

Days 10-14, Week 2: The zygote splits into two sets of cells, half become the placenta, which provides nourishment for the fetus and the other will become the fetus. Placental chemicals and hormones prevent the women from menstruating.

Day 20: The embryo is now the size of an apple seed. The placenta and umbilical cord are now functioning. The foundations for the brain, spinal cord and nervous system are established.

Day 21, Week 3: The heart begins to beat.

Day 28, Week 4: The backbone and muscles are forming. Arms, legs, eyes and ears have begun to show. Hair has begun to sprout.

Day 30: The embryo is 10,000 times larger than the original fertilized egg. The heart is pumping increasing quantities of blood through the circulatory system. The placenta forms a unique barrier that keeps the mother’s blood separate while allowing food and oxygen to pass through to the embryo.

Day 35, Week 5: Five fingers can be discerned in the hand. The eyes darken as pigment is produced. The embryo is now the size of a raspberry.

Day 40: Brain waves can be detected and recorded.

6 week fetusWeek 6: The liver is now taking over the production of blood cells and the brain begins to control movement of muscles and organs.

Week 7: The uterus is about the size of a tennis ball. The embryo is moving continuously. The jaw forms, including teeth buds in the gums. The eyelids seal to protect the embryo’s developing light-sensitive eyes.

8 week fetusWeek 8: Now a little more than an inch long, the fetus has everything found in a fully developed adult. The stomach produces digestive juices, the kidneys are functioning and genitals have begun to form. Forty muscle sets operate in conjunction with the nervous system and the fetus responds to touch.

Week 9: Fingerprints are already evident in the skin. The fetus will curve its fingers around an object placed in its palm. The fetus weighs about 1/2 ounce and is developing fingernails and hair.

10 week fetusWeek 10: The fetus can bend, stretch, make fists, open hands, lift its head, squint, swallow and wrinkle its forehead.

Week 11: The fetus is now two inches long. Urination occurs.

Week 12: The fetus now breaths amniotic fluid, sleeps, awakens, exercises, turns its head, curls its toes and opens and closes its mouth.

Week 13: Fine hair has begun to grow on the head, and sexual differentiation has become apparent.

I’m loving slow cooking! =)

Filed under: Food and Drink, Online Finds! — cutieissa24 at 10:35 am on Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Slow cooking is a method of cooking where food is cooked at a relatively low temperature for many hours. This allows cooking to be allowing unattended, allowing the chef or cook to pursue other activities. Slow cooked foods include pot roast, stews, etc. If you wanna try this cooking method, you have to have a slow cooker first, aka “Crock Pot”. ShopWiki.com has an excellent slow cooker buying guide (and for other kitchen appliances as well) so check it out before you buy one okay? Anyway, here’s the recipe of my favorite slow cooked food:

BEEF STROGANOFF
INGREDIENTS:
12 ounces uncooked wide egg noodles
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
1 package (1-1/4 ounces) dry onion soup mix
1-1/2 pounds 90% lean ground beef
1 cup frozen peas, thawed

METHOD:
1.Place 3 quarts water in 8-quart stockpot; bring to a boil over high heat. Stir in noodles; boil, uncovered, 6 minutes or until tender. Drain.
2. Meanwhile, place mushroom soup, sour cream and onion soup mix in medium bowl. Stir until blended; set aside. Brown meat in large skillet over high heat 6 to 8 minutes or until meat is no longer pink, stirring to separate meat. Pour off drippings. Reduce heat to low. Add soup mixture; stir over low heat until bubbly. Stir in peas; heat through. Serve over noodles.

Very easy huh?? =) Now if you need more slow cooking recipes, check out the cookbooks section of ShopWiki.com — this is a shopping site that lists the products you’re looking for that is available from all stores that carry it. That way, you can compare prices and deals. A totally awesome site and great for online shoppers like me!

hubby talks about reef aquariums =)

Filed under: "Exotic" Stuff, Exquisite Things — cutieissa24 at 4:21 pm on Monday, November 9, 2009

My husband (and his family) is into reef, tropical or saltwater aquariums. They even had “Nemo” one time! So cool! =) I’ve often wondered how they choose the marine fish to add into the seawater aquarium. Is it just by whim or do they follow a guide? According to my hubby, when they started their Reef aquariums, they really had no idea what to do. They just filled the tank with seawater, bought corals and fishes they like, and voila! A marine aquarium! Below is a video clip of their aquarium. So fun to watch the Saltwater fishes swim about!

Unfortunately, they learned the hard way that fishes must be chosen carefully, i.e. better not to get territorial fishes if you plan to have many fishes in the aquarium so as to prevent fish fights. The most important thing in maintaining an aquarium, however, is not the type of fishes or live coral or aquatic plants you choose. It is a thing called protein skimmer which removes protein and other undesirable stuff from the seawater. This is very important to keep your tank water quality good enough for the fishes. The skimmers are also a much more efficient (and cheaper) way to have clean tank water rather than changing it very often.
